Home improvement financing for homeowners
Homeowners can finance renovations through Lattice Lending with a single soft-pull application that returns offers from multiple lenders — typically unsecured loans from $5,000 to $100,000 over 24 to 144 months. No home equity is required, and comparing offers does not affect your credit score.
Personal loan vs. home equity loan for renovations
An unsecured home improvement loan (a type of personal loan) funds in days, requires no appraisal and does not use your home as collateral; APRs are typically higher than home equity products. A home equity loan or HELOC usually offers lower rates but takes weeks, involves closing costs and puts your home at risk if you default. Most projects under $100,000 with a timeline of weeks, not months, are a fit for the unsecured route we offer.
What credit score do you need?
Participating lenders on our platform serve credit profiles from roughly 580 upward. Applicants with scores of 740 or higher see the most competitive APRs; 670–739 is generally well served; 600–669 typically qualifies with higher APRs or shorter terms. Because several lenders evaluate one application, approval odds are higher than applying to a single lender.
- Soft credit pull to compare offers
- Hard inquiry only when you accept a loan
- Joint applications accepted by many lenders
How funding works
Once you accept an offer, the lender funds either your bank account or your contractor directly, depending on the loan product. Most lenders disburse within one to three business days after final verification. You repay the lender directly on a fixed monthly schedule with no prepayment penalty on the majority of products.
Common questions
What's the difference between a personal loan and a home equity loan for renovations?
A personal (unsecured) home improvement loan funds in days, needs no appraisal, and does not use your home as collateral, but APRs are usually higher. A home equity loan or HELOC generally offers lower rates because your home secures it, but takes weeks, involves closing costs, and puts the home at risk if you default. Lattice Lending offers the unsecured route, which fits most projects under $100,000 with a timeline of weeks.
How quickly can a home improvement loan be funded?
Most participating lenders fund within one to three business days after final verification; some same-day options exist for smaller amounts. Funds go to your bank account or directly to your contractor depending on the loan product.
